Made in northeastern Namibia, on the south bank of the Okavango River, Kavango baskets are traditionally winnowed by women for agricultural use. Made from Hyphaene petersiana or “mikalani” palm leaves and local herbs. Their colors are based on natural plant dyes.
The quality and fineness of the weave as well as the variations in colors and patterns make each basket unique.
