Since its creation in 1991, convinced of the essential need to adapt handicraft products to the western market, AS’ART started to create its own objects. Its Kisii stone range from Kenya is still emblematic of the brand.<\/p>\n
These decorative objects, heavy and with such a pleasant touch, easily find their place in any type of interior, Scandinavian, vintage, contemporary, ethnic…<\/p>\n
The Kisii stone fields are located in Nyanza Province, western Kenya. It is also called soapstone although it contains very little talc. It is mainly composed of kaolinite, sericite and pyrophyllite.
\nIn its raw state, the Kisii stone is cream-colored with variations of red, yellow or grey. It is soft, dense, fine-grained.\u00a0 When polished with water it acquires a very soft finish.
\nAll stages of the manufacturing process are manual: carving, water sanding and polishing.<\/p>\n
